The purpose of this community service is to provide materials and knowledge to parents or caretakers of Asy-Syuhada Early Childhood Education (PAUD) on the benefits of storytelling for children. Additionally, the service aims to highlight the necessary preparations that storytellers or narrators must undertake, along with techniques involved in storytelling for children. Storytelling is considered a skill that originates from a child's creativity and abilities, starting from the early stages of learning when they engage in storytelling in their unique ways. This may include babbling or chatting with their own intonation and articulation. Storytelling represents one aspect of a child's literacy skills developed from an early age. Literacy, encompassing reading, writing, numeracy, and storytelling, reflects a child's capabilities and creativity. Introducing storytelling methods to young children doesn't solely rely on teachers; parents play a crucial role in initiating this process. Parents can set an example for their children by demonstrating effective storytelling techniques, emphasizing the importance of story structure, intonation, and character portrayal. Storytelling can utilize various mediums such as books, animal toys, dolls, toy cars, or even be conducted without any specific props. Regardless of the medium used, effective storytelling captures a child's interest as they follow the narrative presented by the parents. The presenter conveys the necessary preparations for initiating a story and provides insights into effective storytelling techniques that captivate and engage children.
